23 images that capture the 2021 Bristol local elections

A lot seems to have happened since Thursday (May 6) when people across the Bristol region headed to the polls to vote in up to four elections in what was dubbed Super Thursday, one of the biggest sets of local elections for many years.

Once the polls closed, Friday evening saw the race to become Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner being won by Conservative Mark Shelford.

On Saturday afternoon, it was declared that Labour’s Dan Norris had been elected the next Combined Authority Mayor for the West of England (WECA) and it was later announced that Marvin Rees – also for the Labour Party – had been re-elected as the Mayor of Bristol.

And today, ballots for the local councillors elections have been counted and we now have all the results. In the new political makeup of the council, no party will have overall control.
