A370 blocked as car bursts into flames – live updates


The A370 is blocked in Cleeve after a car burst into flames.

Fire crews are attending the scene near The Wool Shop on Main Road after a vehicle came off the road and set on fire.

The blaze is still being extinguished as of 4.50pm. The cause of the fire and any injuries are not yet known.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix says the incident is affecting traffic through the centre of Cleeve.

“Reports of A370 Main Road in both directions blocked, queueing traffic due to car fire near The Wool Shop,” it reported.

Meanwhile, buses are being diverted via Smallway and Claverham.

An update issued by First Bus reads: “The A370 is closed at Rhodyate Hill due to a car fire.

“X1 services are diverted via Smallway and Claverham like an X2 until further notice.”
