Epic Gameshow viewers were left split on last night’s instalment of the ITV show as host Alan Carr made a savage snipe about Meghan Markle.
As the renowned comic introduced the hopeful contestants who were set to win some cash for their chosen charities, Alan, 44, couldn’t pass up the opportunity to joke about the Duchess of Sussex’s position in Buckingham Palace, reports the Mirror.
As the contestants geared up to give it the best they had during the Bullseye segment, Alan asked one guest what her nickname was for the game.
After the excited hopeful revealed she goes by the nickname ‘the Queen of the palace’, Alan made a reference to Prince Harry‘s wife, whose name has continuously been in the headlines following the couple’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey regarding the Royal family.
“I think that’s the nickname Meghan had her heart set on. And look how that turned out,” he joked, eyebrows raised.
Following Alan’s jibe, unimpressed fans flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts.
One unhappy spectator tweeted: “For the love of God why is Alan Carr bashing Meghan Markle before 9PM?”
“Alan Carr is a funny man, there’s no denying that. But he’s gone too far with that Meghan Markle comment after all that she’s come to reveal recently,” fumed another.
“Epic Gameshow, really? Making snide remarks about Meghan Markle. Are we still on this subject? That’s actually annoyed me,” raged another viewer.
But it’s clear the comic’s joke divided fans, as others took to the social media platform to praise his efforts.
“Alan Carr is one quick man with that Meghan Markle jibe. Genius man,” enthused one fan.
While a second shared: “Why is everyone complaining so much? It was a joke. He’s a comedian. That’s literally his job people.”
