Police with guns swooped on a residential street in Kingswood this afternoon as a man was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
Officers arrived at an address along Gilpin Close just after 1pm today (Friday, December 3).
Images from the scene show armed police as they responded to an incident. And a nearby school reportedly alerted parents to a police incident in the area, according to reports on social media.
At least two marked police vehicles and two unmarked vehicles were spotted along the road as officers used the bonnet of one of them to lean their weapons on.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: “We were called at just after 1pm today (Friday 3 December) to a report of a robbery in the Kingswood area.
“Due to the nature of the information received, armed officers were among those to attend a property in the Gilpin Road area.
“A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery. Enquiries into this incident are ongoing.”
A witness who asked not to be named told Bristol Live “armed police turned up” at about 1.30pm to one of the properties along the road, but have since left the scene.
