My client is seeking enthusiastic BIM Co-ordinator with a drive to work on the design and construction of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) nuclear new build site, currently one of the world’s largest construction projects. Hinkley is set to be the benchmark for future construction of similar projects in the UK.
This is a great way to be exposed to the latest technology and digital construction methods with 3D BIM rebar modelling in TEKLA on such a large industrial project.
They are looking to grow their Site Engineering Team located on the construction site in Somerset across multiple disciplines and are looking for people who thrive in a dynamic environment, who can work collaboratively to deliver innovative and technical solutions to their client’s problems and construction team problems involving design aspect.
The BIM Co-ordinator will be part of a site design team of civil engineers, civil technicians, draftsmen working on the most complicated RC structure of Nuclear Island buildings in the Hinkley Point C project (in particular, Reactor buildings, Fuel building, Safeguard buildings).
The BIM coordinator is assigned to a production team and is in charge of:
* Analysis of the input data models for BIM aspects in coordination with production team according to procedure.
* Preparation of the model before the beginning of the production (according to BYLOR requirements).
* Coordination of the 3D activities on the model namely in terms of interfaces, management of phases, organization of the works and modelling priorities.
* Control of the application of procedures for 3D production.
* Management and support of the draftsmen for the 3D issues.
* Communication with engineers, regarding the interfaces between structures.
* 3D Control of the 3D native tekla models in relation with the senior designer according to ICOS procedures.
* IFC creation and IFC check (weekly export and for each GR) according to procedures and following a planning provided by production team.
* Permanent set-up tasks to respond to technical demands in relation with IT department.
* Edition of the 3D indicators for the reportings.
* Management of the users’ rights of the Tekla shared model.
* Back-up and restauration of database.
* Networking with other BIM co-ordinators (Process improvement and lessons learned).
THE BIM COORDINATOR PROFILE
* Suitable skills and education Structural engineering background and BIM (Building Information Modeling) Training or Diploma Software +
* TEKLA Structures, NavisWorks Knowledge.
* IFC, BCF + Programming code.
* Object-oriented programming, Open API C#
* Knowledge of RC calculations.
* Reinforced concrete and EuroCode 2.
* Knowledge of the Nuclear Civil Works environment.
