Bristol Covid latest shows less than 10 new cases in 24 hours


Only seven new Covid cases have been confirmed in Bristol over the past 24 hours.

Across the whole West of England region – including Bath and North East Somerset and North Somerset – a total of 19 new cases were confirmed over the past 24 hours.

The Government said a further five people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Saturday, bringing the UK total to 127,603.

The Government also said, as of 9am on Saturday, there had been a further 2,047 lab-confirmed cases in the UK. It brings the total to 4,433,090.

There are now less than ten coronavirus patients being cared for at Bristol’s hospitals.

The latest government figures show seven people have been admitted to University Hospitals Bristol after contracting Covid, and two to North Bristol Trust.

Only one patient is on ventilation at this time.

This compares to more than 400 patients being cared for in Bristol hospitals in January.


The number of positive test results in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with positive test results from the last 24 hours in brackets:

  • Bristol – 30,890 (7 new cases)
  • North Somerset – 10,128 (1 new cases)
  • Bath and North East Somerset – 8,268 (3 new cases)

  • South Gloucestershire – 15,279 (8 new cases)

Government data up to May 7, shows that of the 52,403,417 jabs given in the UK so far, 35,188,981 were first doses – a rise of 119,340 on the previous day.

Some 17,214,436 were second doses, an increase of 449,716.
