James Belshaw – 6
Made a superb save to deny Ozzy Zanzala’s early header. Was beaten by Josh Gordon’s long-range thump, only for the ball to crack the crossbar. A George Williams free-kick made him look uncomfortable, but a solid enough performance.
Connor Taylor – 7
Was nutmegged late on by Williams, but was assured otherwise. Was physical in the challenge and confident on the ball.
Mark Hughes (c) – 5
Was too casual in one instance while being hassled by Zanzala, allowing Remeao Hutton to drill a dangerous cross across the box. Headed a late chance wide.
Nick Anderton – 5
Gave away one or two soft free-kicks but was largely untroubled. Was sacrificed in the second half to get another Paul Coutts onto the pitch.
Alex Rodman – 5
Gave away some sloppy fouls which halted Rovers momentum after the break, and was unable to exert his influence in the final third.
Josh Grant – 5
Got very lucky when an errant pass intended for Finley went unpunished just after the break. Did OK when moved back into defence.
Sam Finley – 5
Looked to get the Gas on the front foot, but his progressive passing was inaccurate. Was booked late on.
Harry Anderson – 5
Worked hard as ever, but was ineffective on the whole. Did draw a superb save in stoppage time with a glancing header. Will have more joy when he shifts back to the right side.
Sam Nicholson – 7
Started for the first time this season and looked his old self, turning defenders inside out. Leapt onto a loose ball to pierce through the defence and his shot was just too strong for the goalkeeper.
Aaron Collins – 5
Threatened to find the net, but didn’t make the best of his moments of opportunity. Did plenty of good work, mainly in the first half, but lacked the finishing touch.

Brett Pitman – 5
Showed his value in the first period, linking the play well, but he faded – understandably with his ongoing injury concern. Saw a header well saved before striking over the bar in the first half. His sole effort after the break was comfortably saved.
Paul Coutts (for Anderton on 53′) – 5
Saw plenty of the ball but, with little happening in front of him, he was unable to work the chances needed.
Luke Thomas (for Nicholson on 62′) – 6
Some bright touches, but the Gas needed to get him in the game more.
Harvey Saunders (for Collins on 78′) – 6
Went close to winning a penalty but goalkeeper Paul Farman just got a touch on the ball.
