Good afternoon, Gasheads, and welcome to live coverage as Bristol Rovers welcome Sutton United to the Mem in the second round of the FA Cup.
A coveted spot in the third-round draw is up for grabs today, but Sutton will be no easy match for Joey Barton’s Gas, with the newly-promoted Us thriving in League Two after winning the National League last season.
But Rovers will be eager to make the most of their first-round heroics, when they beat Oxford United thanks to a thrilling extra-time comeback, count for more than one memorable night at the Mem.
On the whole, the Gas have improved in recent weeks without converting good performances into victories, but an FA Cup win at the Mem to reach the third round could be the catalyst for a climb up the table.
Of course, it will be intriguing to see how Rovers fare today considering they have been without their manager all week due to his ongoing trial at Sheffield Crown Court. He denies the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and is due to be on the touchline today.
Kick-off at the Mem is at 3pm. Stay tuned throughout the day for live updates, reaction and analysis.
