Bristol’s biggest nightclubs have announced new dates for their reopening events following the government’s decision to delay the lifting of lockdown restrictions.
Motion, Pryzm and Ramshackle at Bristol’s O2 have issued updates on their social media, announcing when they will reopen, and reassuring those who have pre booked tickets.
The date for the reopening of nightclubs had been earmarked as June 21, but yesterday (June 14) Boris Johnson announced a delay to ‘Freedom Day’ by four weeks to July 19, amid a surge in cases of the delta variant.
Since the announcement, concerns have been raised over the impact this will have on the nighttime economy, with one Bristol venue urging financial support will be needed.
Now Bristol’s most popular nightclubs have rescheduled their ‘Welcome Back’ events, originally planned for the week of June 21, that had all sold out online.
Motion had a number of events planned for the end of June and beginning of July.
It posted an announcement to its Facebook yesterday, which read: “In light of the government’s latest announcement, we have no choice but to postpone all our shows until we can finally reopen fully in the safest way possible on Monday 19th July.
“Please bear with us whilst we’re working on the new dates, and we will keep you all updated as soon as possible.
“We will assess and update this position regularly, being as transparent as possible with the information being provided by the government and local authorities.
“As ever, we hugely appreciate your support and understanding in these difficult times. Motion x”
Ramshackle at Bristol’s O2 had planned a Welcome Back Rave for June 25, but has since postponed the event.
In a statement, it said: “Following today’s Government announcement, our Welcome Back Rave originally taking place at the O2 Academy Bristol on Friday 25th of June is now rescheduled to Friday 23rd of July.
“All tickets purchased for the original date remain valid for the rescheduled date.
“We can’t wait to see you all!”
Pryzm has also issued an update.
“It’s not the news we wanted however we are staying positive and hope to be back very soon!” it said.
“All ticket holders that have purchased tickets for events between Monday 21st June & Sunday 18th July will be contacted via email within the next 48 hours.
“In the meantime, we will continue to open with our Pub In A Club sessions until we can return to the dancefloor properly.”
