Research has shown that one in five drivers have resorted to pouring boiling water over their windscreen to remove frost.
While a common practice, and unlikely to cause any issues in most cases, sudden changes in temperature are one of the best ways to turn a chip into a crack.
It’s best to use a scraper or a de-icing solution, or at least avoid blasting the heating at the windscreen at full power. Drivers can use the following solutions instead.
