Drivers forced to pay up to £10,000 more as popular car prices rise by 70 percent

In 2011, a Ford Fiesta cost less than £10,000 and has seen a huge increase in price of more than £6,600.

The Vauxhall Corsa (five-door) also had a massive increase of more than £4,700 in just 10 years.

In 2011, a Corsa cost just £12,050, but now will set drivers back £16,815, a 40 percent increase.

Another Vauxhall, the Astra, had the fifth highest price increase from £14,310 to £19,185.
