
Traffic should also give way to pedestrians waiting to cross the road at junctions before turning in.
A total of 68 percent of respondents said they supported plans for drivers to give way at junctions.
However, 26 percent did not agree with the new rule and raised their concerns over the idea.
Respondents to the DfT said there was a risk that pedestrians would assume it was safe to cross and not check it was actually safe.
