Salary : £35,000 – 45,000, DOE

Mecelec Design Limited produces bespoke assembly equipment, test machinery and special purpose machines. Our clients include many high-profile companies in industries such as aerospace, defence, automotive and pharmaceutical and our equipment has produced products from car engine components to the handling DNA testing solutions.

Electrical Controls Engineer – The Role:

Your role will encompass a wide range of activities that occur in the creation, commissioning and maintenance of equipment manufactured by or any contract entered into by Mecelec Design Limited.

Duties and Responsibilities:

A new recruit should have good experience of the following:
* Select proprietary items and negotiate with suppliers.
* Offer support/supervision of the build, commissioning and sign off of equipment.
* Offer support/supervision of the installation of equipment and ongoing maintenance.
* Preparation of quotation documents and drawings.
* Liaison with customers during contract negotiations and during contract life.
* Guiding / assisting wireman during the electrical build process.
* Commissioning – Test, prove out, and demonstrate that the control and monitoring systems are working to achieve the design aims of the machine. This is done on our site and on the customers site which dictates working away when required.

Electrical Controls Engineer- Candidate Profile:

A new recruit should have good experience of the following:
* PLCs – Hardware configuration and programming.
* PCs – interfaces to electrical control outputs and signal inputs, programming (LabVIEW, “C” …)
* Electrical Power distribution and control for industrial machines.
– working to relevant British Standards
– working with fuses, circuit breakers, contactors, overload devices, low voltage power supplies and power distribution, relays, pushbuttons and indicators.
* A basic understanding of mechanisms and physics in order to control and monitor machines and test rigs.
* An understanding of Measurement devices – pressure, force, torque, position, flow, temperature, and the interfacing of these to displays, PLCs or PCs.
* Experience in the use of test equipment, DVM, oscilloscope, signal generator, pulse generator & Interpretation of results.
* Understanding of control of mechanical power sources – electric (various motor types and solenoids), pneumatics and hydraulics.
* Control of heaters.
* Experience of closed loop, proportional control systems.
