Roger simply captioned his post: “Happy Birthday dearest old friend…..forever with us in our thoughts.”

Meanwhile, the official Queen and Freddie Mercury YouTube channels have released an incredible tribute video to the late singer, which fans can watch below.

Speaking with Express.co.uk last year, Brian May shared how he believes that Freddie would be touring today in what is now Queen’s 50th anniversary year.

Brian said: “I think like all of us Freddie would have moments of, ‘Oh god, it’s time I quit!’ But then you can’t. That’s the way we are. You live your life, devoted to music as we have.”
