Guinness was extremely excited to announce they were heading into the non-alcoholic range with a 0.0 beer last year. The drink was rolled out in November 2020 but immediately recalled following fears of what beverage company Diageo called a “microbiological contamination” that could have made some cans unsafe to drink. Following an investigation and with the drink now deemed safe to consume, Guinness 0.0 will return to supermarket shelves this week. Here’s where you can buy it.
Guinness 0.0 was initially launched in a limited number of supermarkets in October 2020.
As a precautionary measure, Diageo undertook a voluntary recall of Guinness 0.0 after production tests identified the possible contamination of some batches.
Following a thorough investigation across all aspects of the production process, Diageo identified a process failure and has since put in place additional measures and controls throughout the production process to ensure product quality.
Now the drink is back on the market and available for all Guinness lovers to enjoy.

The beer itself which is from the brewers at St.Jame’s Gate boasts “the same dark, ruby red liquid and creamy head”.
There is also “hints of chocolate and coffee smoothly balanced with bitter, sweet and roasted notes” just like the alcoholic Guinness.
But those choosing the non-alcoholic version can benefit from lower calories as each 100ml contains just 17 calories.
This means a standard can of alcohol-free Guinness 0.0 contains less than 75 calories – but with the iconic flavour that everyone knows from a regular pint.
Guinness’ MicroDraught is a world-first innovation which will allow outlets to serve Guinness 0.0 no matter their set up.
This means pub-goers can choose to enjoy an iconic pint of Guinness without the alcohol, as if freshly poured the way it should be.
