A leading engineering manufacturer specialising in steam, is looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join the team based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Competitive Salary
Contracted to 37.5 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday – 08.45 – 17.15

As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will be a vital member within our organisation. You will take ownership of providing advice to both manager & employees to ensure systems are in accordance to OHSAS18001 & ISO 14001.
You will need to be an experienced health and Safety advisor within a manufacturing environment, have your NEBOSH and have a good understanding of both ISO14001 and OHSAS18001
Using your solid experience within the manufacturing sector, you will complete risk assessments including PUWER, COSHH, Manual Handling and DSE, manage all audits & inspections and liaise with 3rd parties to deliver specific EHS training.

Core Responsibilities:

Advise and assist managers and employees in the operation of the company EHS management systems in accordance with OHSAS18001 & ISO 14001 to achieve objectives and targets. Lead the audit process of OHSAS18001 and ISO14001 and maintain and improve the management systems.
Support risk assessment process (inc. Workplace and PUWER, COSHH, Manual Handling and DSE etc)
Conduct routine EHS audits and inspections across both sites to identify areas for improvement agreeing with responsible persons the actions and timeframes to correct these and opportunities to engineer out risk wherever possible.
Analyse and report on trends and KPI’s providing constructive solutions and presenting options to senior management for engagement and approval.
Organise with 3rd parties and deliver specific EHS Training where applicable (eg. Induction, BBS, manual handling or policy rollouts)
Liaise with regulatory and certification bodies to support third party inspection/audits.
Specify suitable PPE for the operations of the business, co-ordinating with suppliers to trial and evaluate new equipment as necessary.
Co-ordinate implementation of workplace surveys and control measures on site (noise/air/fire).
Support the delivery of the Environmental objectives and targets and quick resolutions of actions on the action database.
Work with specific business partnership areas to ensure leading indicators and accident metrics are improved.
Help maintain the records and guidance on the company I-share system.
Actively participate and engage others into the Behavioural based safety programme
Attend morning operational meetings to ensure that key safety messages are communicated
Support accident investigations across the site.
Use Cherwell and accident reporting software to ensure data is logged accurately and actioned in an appropriate manner.
Work with key stakeholders to ensure that safety improvement activity/projects are implemented safely (Management of change process)
Coach and mentor the management team on safety walk rounds/ concern reporting/ FLOAC and safety good practicesExperience/Skills & Competencies:

Must have solid health & Safety experience
Strong understanding of both ISO14001 and OHSAS18001
Must have experience at conducting risk assessments
Must be from a Manufacturing background
