How to remove fake tan from your hands and body – the 6 tips

So how do you exfoliate properly? Well, you need to be thorough!

Lauren said: “When exfoliating, start at your feet and work your way up to your body.

“This will help increase blood circulation, prep your skin and give you a natural glow.”

Once you’ve finished tanning, inspect your handiwork to look for any “patchy darker areas”.

If you notice any troublesome spots, Lauren recommends “gently exfoliating the dead skin cells.”

She added: “Whatever you do, NEVER roughly scrub – otherwise you’ll end up even more patchy!

“Again, work your way slowly up in a circular motion to ensure you don’t miss a patch.”

Not sure what exfoliator to use? Lauren recommends Goop’s G.Tox Himalayan Salt Scalp Scrub (£38) or Elemis Frangipani Monoi Salt Glow (£42), but you don’t need to spend a fortune to get the perfect tan.

She also recommends making your own exfoliator with things you’ve already got at home.

Lauren said: “You can experiment with different options for your exfoliator such as coarse sugar, salt, lemon or lime juice, which will all help to gently slough any dead skin cells off of the surface of the skin as well as exfoliate the darker patches of tan.”
