Hundreds of more cases confirmed as 13 Covid patients battling on ventilators

Another 670 coronavirus cases have been confirmed across the Bristol region, the latest figures show.

The highest increase was in Bristol, with 299 infections reported. Our city also has 13 Covid patients battling on ventilators -nine in North Bristol Trust and four at University Hospitals Trust.

A total of 99 people are being cared for at hospitals across Bristol after being diagnosed with Covid.

South Gloucestershire recorded the second-highest figure of 149. North Somerset followed with 126 cases.

And 96 infections were reported in Bath and North East Somerset.

The total number of cases confirmed in each region around Bristol, with the daily rise in brackets, are as follows:

  • Bristol – 55,931 (+299)

  • North Somerset – 17,824 (+126)

  • South Gloucestershire – 28,188 (+149)

  • Bath and North East Somerset – 16,269 (+96)

The total number of deaths recorded in each region, with any increase in brackets, is as follows:

  • Bristol – 507 (-)

  • North Somerset – 323 (-)

  • South Gloucestershire – 366 (-)

  • Bath and North East Somerset – 233 (+0)

Across the United Kingdom there were another 37,578 positive coronavirus cases identified today, bringing the total number since the start of the pandemic to 6,941,611.

There have been another 120 people to die within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test meaning the death toll now stands at 133,161.

There have however been 48,205,585 first doses of the coronavirus vaccine given out while 43,251,037 people have now been double-jabbed.
