Inside home Kate & William stay in at Christmas – just five-minute drive from Queen

Kate Middleton and Prince William attend St Mary Magdalene Church on Christmas Day as usual with other key members of the Royal Family, however, the Cambridges’ have their own property on the Sandringham estate. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, all stay in Anmer Hall in King’s Lynn when they come to Norfolk for Christmas. Sandringham is a massive mansion, with 775 rooms in total, including 19 staterooms, 52 royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices, and 78 bathrooms.

Before the Cambridges moved in, £1.5million worth of refurbishments were made which included a conservatory, rerouting the driveway and redesigning the interior.

William and Kate lived at Anmer Hall full-time from 2015 to 2017.

They also spent much of the coronavirus lockdown there.

The Cambridges often spend Christmas at Anmer Hall, when the royals all gather in Norfolk.

The mansion is located in the tiny village of Anmer, which is within the market town of King’s Lynn.

Royal fans were delighted to be given a virtual tour of the family’s garden in a video posted to the Duke and Duchess’ Instagram account to mark their 10th wedding anniversary.

Features of the garden included a Wendy house, a wooden seesaw, and a lovely lawn surrounded by plants.

Royal fans got a glimpse of the doorway of Anmer hall when the family clapped for the NHS during the BBC’s Big Night In.

The door was in keeping with the charm of the house. The old wooden doorway was surrounded by red brick and wall lights on either side.

A lovely image of the family was taken at Anmer Hall for the Cambridges’ 2020 Christmas card.

It was taken in the garden of Anmer Hall and the piles of logs behind them suggested there were multiple fireplaces in their home.

Much like the rest of the UK, the Duke and Duchess spent much of lockdown working from home via video calls.

Luckily for royal fans, this meant they got to see inside lots of different parts of their lovely house.

The video calls were all in different rooms of the house, but one call showed the couple sat on a cream-coloured sofa with a sideboard containing family photos behind them.

In 2015, the family released an adorable photo of Princess Charlotte giving royal fans a glimpse into the living space at Anmer Hall.

It showed cream walls and carpets with Charlotte and her toy dog sitting on a yellow and green gingham chair.

Another adorable photo of Princess Charlotte gave royal watchers a small look at the interior of the house.

The photo, released for Princess Charlotte’s first birthday in 2016, showed another room in the house and that there was a cream theme running throughout Anmer Hall.

The Cambridges’ garden included a climbing frame, a climbing wall, and swings for the children to play on.

The garden used to feature a swimming pool and tennis court, but reports say Kate and William decided to have them replaced with an artificial lawn.

The cream-coloured, classic décor is thought to be carried throughout the house, even to George and Charlotte’s nurseries.

Sadly Anmer Hall cannot be visited by the public. As Anmer is a private family home for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, it is not open to visitors.

Royal fans can, however, visit Sandringham, which has lots of lovely grounds to walk around, a gift shop and a cafe.
