Now, cleaning fans have formed their own social media groups dedicated to helping others find effective methods to maintain a tidy home.
One group member sought advice on how to refreshen a canister vacuum cleaner to prevent it from “smelling awful”.
Responding to the post, one person commented: “We put bin freshener on top of the bag so it smells lovely.”
A second online user posted: “Wash the filter, or if you have an air compressor blow the dust out of it, but wash and drying the filter is the best method.”
Another offered: “Pour essential oils or Zoflora in the bag.”
One person recommended: “Once cleaned out, pop some Unstoppables inside, smells amazing when hoovering house.”
