The M4 Prince of Wales bridge is set to close for nine hours to allow roadworks to happen tonight (Tuesday, June 15).

The westbound crossing will shut at 9pm and reopen at 6am tomorrow (Wednesday, June 16), meaning drivers heading to Wales will have to take the A48 instead.

Part of the M4 will also be out of action for the same period overnight, between junctions 17 and 18, in a westerly direction.

This will affect motorists heading towards Bristol, between Stanton St Quintin and Tormarton Interchange.

A slip-road on the M32 northbound is also closed due to roadworks at junction two B4058 Stapleton Road (Eastville).

The exit will be off-limits all week as concrete is replaced after a fire last year and will reopen on June 18 at 10pm.

Drivers should divert via junction one and back onto the M32, leaving southbound at junction two.

Elsewhere in the Bristol area, the A46 will also be shut between London Road and Cold Ashton.

Further afield, the A35 between Honiton and Axminster will close at 8pm and remain shut until 6am tomorrow.

Highways England warned drivers about the closures in a tweet, which said: “Planned roadworks closures tonight: 2000 – 0600 A35 both ways Honiton to Axminster 2100 – 0600 M4.
