A stretch of the M5 has been brought to a standstill after a crash this morning.
The collision happened on the southbound motorway between junction 21 for Weston-super-Mare and junction 22 for Burnham-on-Sea.
It is understood a vehicle has crashed into the central barrier with all lanes being held for a while at around 5.45am.
According to Highways England, disruption is expected until around 8am today (Tuesday, May 11).
It said in a tweet: “There is a collision involving a vehicle that has hit the central reservation. Avon and Somerset Police and the fire brigade are both on scene dealing and the traffic is stopped.”
The latest from Inrix, the traffic and travel information service, at 6.05am said: “Two lanes blocked and queueing traffic due to accident on M5 Southbound between J21 A370 (Weston-super-mare) and J22 (Burnham-on-sea).
“Lanes two and three (of three) are blocked. A vehicle has crashed into the central barrier. All traffic was temporarily held around 05:45.”
