A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: “Crews from Weston-super-Mare and Winscombe were called at 22:51 to a fire in a first floor flat of a terraced property on Longton Grove Road, Weston-super-Mare.

“Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets, one covering jet and one safety jet to extinguish the fire, as well as a thermal image camera to check for hotspots.

“Crews also administered a trauma pack to multiple casualties from the property, before they were handed into the care of ambulance colleagues.

“We were also joined at the scene by police and the gas board.

“The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.”
