The Taurus New Moon is all about relaxing, spending time with friends and family, and reevaluating what really matters to you. Normally on Full and New Moons, Moon mentors and astrologers recommend partaking in Moon rituals. Express.co.uk reveals how to celebrate the Taurus New Moon on Tuesday, May 11 at 8pm.

According to Moon mentor, Kirsty Gallagher, in her book ‘Lunar Living: Working with the Magic of the Moon Cycles’, a Taurus New Moon forces you to slow down and grounds you.

The book reads: “You may feel a sense of exhaustion and lethargy under this Moon as the Taurus dark Moon energy forces you into taking it easy.”

On this New Moon, you won’t fancy doing anything too energetic but you should still keep up your rituals.

Here are five rituals to perform under the Taurus New Moon.

Self-care

We all know that Taureans love lounging around and performing self-care rituals, so that’s what you should do under the Taurus New Moon.

Kirsty writes in her book: “Make a list of three things that you can do over the Taurus New Moon period that are just for you.

“Notice how you feel about self-care and if it’s something that’s hard for you to implement, try just one act of self-care every day under the waxing Moon.”

This can be anything from slapping on a face mask and treating yourself to a new outfit to doing a workout or eating a cake.

Journalling

Use the Earthy Taurus energy to look at how far you have come and where you want to go and jot down your thoughts in your Moon journal.

Haven’t got a Moon journal? Well, it’s time to start one and fill it out every New and Full Moon.

On this particular lunar event, reflect on everything you want to achieve this month, or even this year, and put a plan in place to get there.

Affirmations

Affirmations will help speed your goals up and you can spend the New Moon chanting and repeating them to start new habits.

Kirsty writes: “I would suggest that you use three affirmations at a time and repeat each one at least three times, morning and evening.

“If you can say them looking in a mirror, you will add even more power.”

Kirsty recommends laying somewhere comfortable, breathing deeply and slowly and imagining what you want as you ask the Moon to help you get there.

It could be anything from ‘I am confident’ to ‘I am careful with my money’.

Crystals

Crystals will only enhance your Moon practice because they carry specific energy.

Chant your intentions or meditate while holding your chosen crystal, based on its meaning, and looking at the sky.

Kirsty recommends using Moonstone, clear quartz or rose quartz.
