
She said: “The scheme isn’t even open.
“The Prime Minister came to the House of Commons, not willingly, but because we forced a recall of Parliament.
“He said he would ‘move heaven and earth’ to help people who helped and supported us over two decades, who are now being hunted door to door by the Taliban.
“Three and half months later the scheme to accept Afghan refugees to this country hasn’t even opened.”
The Government’s Afghan citizens resettlement scheme (ACRS) announced back in August, it aimed to welcome around 5,000 people in its first year of operation and up to 20,000 over the coming years.
The scheme hopes to prioritise “those who have assisted the UK efforts in Afghanistan” as well as “vulnerable people” including women and girls at risk, and members of minority groups.
Taking to Twitter following the comments, One user Marion McLean said the Government was “very lax” about the situation.
They said: “I can’t abide her but she’s right about the length of time that HMG had to evacuate people and did sweet f*** all.

According to The Migration Observatory at the University of Oxford, there is a lack of clarity about how many Afghans have already been moved to the UK under the ARAP scheme.
