You might remember Pokémon GO as the game which took over the world a few years ago.

Thousands of us walked the streets of Bristol aimlessly trying to catch as many Pokémon as we could.

And now there’s a chance to enjoy it all over again as an official Pokémon GO event is coming to Bristol this month.

Pokémon GO Fest 2021 is a real-world celebration coming to only four UK cities in the UK on Saturday, July 17 and more than 20 cities across the world.

Trainers can hunt for the popular augmented reality characters while exploring our city.

As Liverpool Echo reports, last year’s event – due to take place in Liverpool and two locations in the US – was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic.

But this year the event is back, although it will be held on a smaller scale to previous years.

Pokémon GO Fest 2021 is also coming to London, Liverpool and Edinburgh.

A statement on the Pokémon GO Live website reads: “We’re excited to announce that real-world Pokémon GO Fest celebrations will be held in more than 20 cities this year.

“While we can’t all gather on the scale of previous Pokémon GO Fest events, these outdoor and socially distanced experiences will still certainly be worth attending if you’re nearby.

“Don’t worry, the Pokémon GO Fest 2021 in-game experience will still be the same for everyone around the world. However, Trainers who attend these in-person celebrations can look forward to enjoying photo ops as they explore the city!

“Please note that these real-world celebrations are scheduled for Saturday, July 17, 2021, from 10am to 6pm local time, and will not happen on Sunday. As you plan your weekend, please adhere to local policies, guidelines, and restrictions regarding travel.

How to register

Pokémon GO Fest 2021 is being held on Saturday, July 17.

Participants are asked to register via this link or through the Events section in the Pokémon GO app. Registration is free, but spots for each city are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

On the Pokémon GO Live website, it says: “Please attend the in-person experiences only if you have a confirmed registration. If you are unable to register, please help us keep crowd sizes at reasonable and safe levels by not travelling to participate in the in-person experiences. Note: An in-game Pokémon GO Fest 2021 ticket will not grant admission to these real-world celebration experiences.”

More information on the event can be found at pokemongolive.com.
