The 48-year-old singer was due to appear in Grease the musical at the Opera House in Manchester on Tuesday when he confessed online to feeling “sick” just hours before the show was meant to start. Last night the singer elaborated on his health concerns via an Instagram live with daughter 14-year-old Princess.

During the chat the Mysterious Girl singer was seen coughing repeatedly proclaiming that he was “so sick”.

Peter said: “I’m supposed to be going to Manchester to do Grease but I’m so sick, I don’t know what to do.”

His young daughter – who was his second child with ex-wife Katie Price replied: “How are you meant to do it like that? You’re going to be coughing.”

Although a reluctant Peter was concerned about letting those who had brought tickets down he admitted to himself that he was “pretty bad”.

Peter added: “I haven’t felt like this for two or three years.

“I did a lateral flow last night and I was fine and I’ll do another one today. I actually think its flu, that’s what I think I’ve got. I’m aching and everything.

“I’m double vaccinated.”

Earlier this year the star contracted Covid so was able to distinguish his current illness with his struggle with the virus.

He said: “I had Covid, but that was a different kind of feel, but that was horrible.”

DON’T MISS:

At the time the singer was left “extremely tired and unwell”, wanting to just sleep “all the time”.

Although he is sure it is not a second bout of Covid the singer was urged by his daughter to get a PCR test.

Road manager Carl Machin also provided his opinion on the star’s deteriorating health advising that he miss one evening show rather than having to sit out for the whole week.

He said: “I know what you’re saying and I applaud you for it but one you look ill, two you sound awful and three you have to sing live vocals.

“And also you’re going to be close to cast members, you’ve got to think how you’d feel if you gave two or three cast members what you’ve got and they have to have time off.”

Peter’s reports of illness come as many individuals have been reporting a flu-like cold described as a “super cold”.

Despite negative PCR tests figures from the UK Health Security Agency showed that 111 calls about colds and flu, a cough, or difficulty breathing are on the rise.

Common symptoms of flu include the following:

  • Fever or feeling feverish/chills
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue (tiredness)
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea.

One sufferer spoke to the Telegraph to describe her experience with the cold. Jules Kelly said that she couldn’t remember the last time she suffered from a bout of the sniffles But when she came down with debilitating flu-like symptoms she was left almost bed ridden.

If you come down with flu the NHS states that symptoms should get better on their own but individuals should do the following to aid recovery:

  • Rest and sleep
  • Keep warm
  • Take paracetamol or ibuprofen to lower your temperature and treat aches and pains
  • Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration (wee should be light yellow or clear).

Flu is extremely infectious and can easily spread to other people. Within the first five days you are more likely to pass it on to others. In order to reduce this risk you should:

  • Wash your hands often with warm water and soap
  • Use tissues to trap germs when you cough or sneeze
  • Bin used tissues as quickly as possible.
