At Viridor, we’re one of the UK’s leading recycling, renewable energy and waste management companies. We put waste into action, transforming it into high quality recyclables, raw materials and energy and are at the forefront of the UK’s green economy. We’re undergoing rapid change and development which provides opportunities for those who are seeking a role to make their mark and drive forward a best in class performance.

Viridor Polymer Recycling produces high quality recycled plastics in pellet and flake every year, which are produced to tight specifications. Sustainability is at the heart of what we do, and we work closely with manufacturers, brand owners and retailers to develop materials that are fit for recycling.

We have a fantastic opportunity for 7 Quality Control Laboratory Technicians to join our new team in Avonmouth, Bristol, working 38.5 hours a week on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern which will be split equally between day and night shifts.

Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, you will undertake sampling and analysis of polymer samples from incoming waste plastics through to recycled products within the recycling facility. You will be working in a laboratory and conducting testing of infeed materials in a working feedstock yard.

This is an interesting and varied role where you will sample several stages of both polymer recycling and water treatment processes. Working in line with production targets, you will be a motivated self-starter with a keen eye for detail. All results will need to be recorded in our electronic databases in an accurate manner.

Additionally, you will also receive training on operating a forklift truck, as this will be key for your role.

We welcome applications from candidates who have:

Knowledge of different Polymer types
Knowledge of lab testing equipment/various testing methods and calibration
The ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
IT skills including the use of MS Office
At Viridor, we invest in our people to reward them for their hard work. That’s why we have a host of company benefits available to you when you join, including an enhanced pension scheme where we match up to 7% of your earnings, depending on how much you put in. To keep you fit and healthy, you’ll have access to discounted gym memberships, a Cycle to Work scheme and our range of health plans with SimplyHealth. To protect your wellbeing, we also have a 24/7 employee helpline offering emotional support and advice.
