As our Quality Line Inspector you have one of the key roles within our business, as you are our authority within the production environment on quality and decisions you make can directly impact customer satisfaction, delivery dates, profitability of the business, our environmental impact and, most importantly, our health and safety. It is therefore imperative that you understand our systems and procedures and work to them to the best of your ability at all times.
*To demonstrate the ability to read and understand technical component drawings
*To complete all necessary documentation to support critical dimension measurements
*To help with training operators to have a clear understanding of overall process
control and completion of documentation
*Sign off first off parts to confirm parts are within drawing / gold sample
*1st off validations of all production runs, ensuring quality is to customer
acceptable levels and comparable to our gold sample(s)
*Regular patrols of all machines producing components on your shift, checking for
good quality production and alerting setting staff whenever there are issues or
*Control and appropriate issuing/use of gold samples, ensuring they can always be
located and are always current in all cases.
*Being vigilant on job packs, ensuring all documents are present and that the
Operators are familiar with them. If something is not present or needs updating, to
take ownership of that and making sure it happens.
*Assisting the Training Coordinator in making sure that Operators who need product-
specific training get it, either by highlighting the need or by giving the training
yourself. In either case the training should always be recorded and signed for by
the Operator concerned.
*Working knowledge of the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), being able to run
programmes as required to check parts, complete ISIRs, SPC Etc.
*To be fully computer literate in Microsoft Office and to learn any software relevant
to the CMM
*Issuing, controlling and storage of inspection jigs and fixtures, ensuring these are
used correctly throughout production runs and returned to safe storage afterwards.
*To control the quarantine area, having a clear plan for inspecting and approving or
discarding of the product in question, ensuring they are properly recorded and
communicated to all concerned.
*To lead 100% inspection processes required by certain products/customers in a timely
*To give very clear and concise handover notes at the end of each shift, making
especially certain that colleagues in the Quality team are fully aware –
communication is key!
*Any other reasonable tasks that you are asked to complete – we are a small business
