First came the 12 cast members for RuPaul’s Drag Race UK series three line-up and now the BBC has confirmed some of the show’s guest judges.
If you’re a fan of Drag Race UK and can’t wait to get your fix when the next series airs later this year, then you will be keen to know who will be making a special appearance on the judging panel, alongside RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Alan Carr and Graham Norton.
Up until now, the BBC has remained tight-lipped on who will be making a judging guest appearance for the upcoming series, but they’ve now confirmed three of the nine guest panellists.
Here, we give you the details on the confirmed famous faces so far who will be joining the judging panel and a little bit about them.
Who are the guest judges on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK?
Three stars have so far been confirmed to be making special guest appearances on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer’s RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. They are:
Professional dancer Oti Mabuse joins the judging panel for a guest appearance.
The 31-year-old is no stranger to judging, though, as she was signed up earlier this year for a stint on The Masked Dancer.
Originally from South Africa, Oti decided to do a university course in civil engineering and then went on to work before realising she missed dancing.
Her older sister, Motsi, is also a dancer. She has appeared as a judge on Strictly Come Dancing alongside Oti, who is a professional dancer on the show. Oti has won two crowns on Strictly Come Dancing.
Speaking about being on the set of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, she said: “I loved being on the set! It felt surreal – I’ve watched every episode since season 1 in the States, Canada, Down Under and I was excited to be on the UK one and meet the queens and work with them.”
Comedian, actor and host Matt Lucas will also be joining the judging panel for a guest appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
The 47-year-old was best known in the early part of the century for the comedy show Little Britain, which he did alongside Britain’s Got Talent judge, David Walliams.
In 2020, Matt signed up to present the hugely popular Great British Bake Off, alongside fellow comedian, Noel Fielding. Some of his other TV roles include the BBC series Doctor Who and Shooting Stars.
Speaking about what it’s like to be a part of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, Matt said: “It was on my bucket list to be on the show, but my years of wearing tights are behind me, so I was both relieved and delighted to be asked to be on the panel!
“I was hugely impressed by the brilliance and invention on the show, and it was one of the most entertaining days I’ve ever had.”
Actress, writer and comedienne Kathy Burke will also be making a special judging appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
The 57-year-old is probably best known to her adoring fans for roles on the BBC show Gimme, Gimme, Gimme and sitcom Absolutely Fabulous as well as her work with Harry Enfield.
Speaking about being on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, Kathy said: “I’m a big drag race fan, so It was absolutely brilliant to meet RuPaul and Michelle Visage – and I loved the very-kind-to-old- ladies’ lighting.”
