Our client, a leading engineering manufacturer specialising in steam, is looking for an experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join the team based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Competitive Salary
Contracted to 37.5 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday – 08.45 – 17.15

As a Senior Health & Safety Advisor, you will be a vital member within our organisation. You will take ownership of providing advice to both managers & employees to ensure systems are in accordance to OHSAS18001 & ISO 14001.

You will need to be an experienced Senior health and Safety advisor within a manufacturing environment, have your NEBOSH, good working knowledge of both ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 and experience of implementing EHS changes within a large organisation.

Using your solid experience within the manufacturing sector and working alongside EHS UK manager the you will lead risk assessments, oversee all audits & inspections and provide day to day support to the EHS advisors.

Core Responsibilities:

To provide accurate, current EHS advice and support to SXS UK to ensure adherence to company requirements and regulatory standards and legislation. Monitor, audit and update EHS activities, and collect and report on key proactive and reactive EHS metrics.
To be an agent of change to improve the site culture by challenging the day to day practices and driving forward the company behavioural based safety (BBS) program.
To prioritise, investigate and report on all accidents and defining to root causes and ensure actions are completed to prevent re-occurrence.
To lead SXS UK Risk Assessment processes including overall risk assessment, Fire risk assessment, Manual Handling, COSHH, Work at Height, Asbestos management, Noise/Vibration, standard operating procedures (SOP) assessments etc. Train, coach and advise all involved parties to drive excellent EHS performance and ensure the output is suitable and sufficient to safeguard employees and meet regulatory requirements.
To support the UK EHS Manager with the management of SXS UK company environmental commitments, (i.e. EPR actions, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and waste minimisation continuous improvements) monitoring, reviewing and documenting progress and communicating with internal and external stakeholders as required.
To act as the first point of contact for SXS UK and proactively promote the EHS agenda by leading agreed EHS campaigns to target key operational risks. Provide accurate, timely EHS training to all staff to ensure ongoing awareness and observance of safety procedures and dealing effectively with queries from internal colleagues, regulatory bodies and customers.
To be responsible for EHS contractors and consultants as directed by the UK EHS Manager and ensure that work is carried out in line with company and legislative requirements.
Monitor event procedure adherence in relation to ISO45001 accreditation. Lead the OHSAS audits and arrange the yearly audit programme.
Perform assigned assessments in programme to upkeep the legal register.
To lead on the day to day management and maintenance of the internal reporting systems, ensuring effective, accurate reporting and prompt investigation and resolution of incidents. Oversee the safety reporting systems and perform site inspections, go-look see audits and environmental audits.
Experience/Skills & Competencies:

Must have solid health & Safety experience
Must have experience of managing a team of Health & safety advisors
Strong understanding of both ISO14001 and OHSAS18001
Must have experience at conducting risk assessments
Must be from a Manufacturing background
Must have a NEBOSH
Must be an analytical thinker who demonstrates initiative with commercial focus
Good communication highly articulate.
