Position Summary:
Our client is looking for a confident Senior Oracle DBA to join their busy team of specialist DBA’s who work collaboratively across all technology groups and play a key part in the businesses success.
The successful candidates will be highly driven and creative individuals able to identify and work with a range of customers and technologies, understand their needs, and develop technical solutions with them. They will continue to work with the customer projects, potentially overseeing elements of the delivery, to help them identify new requirements and business opportunities.

Your future duties and responsibilities:
This Senior Oracle DBA role is an exciting and diverse role, working within the Shared Services Team, supporting a high profile client base within various sectors such as Central Government, utilities, and telecoms. The role focuses on deploying, operating, maintaining both internal, and client databases from small development systems through to mission critical production systems.
You will have demonstrable experience supporting development through to production databases with exposure to a number of Oracle database versions. Good knowledge in the core elements of database administration such as backup and recovery, patching, monitoring, systems tuning and capacity management with a working knowledge of more advanced features such as RAC, ASM and dataguardreplication. Multi platform experience includes Linux, Unix, Wintel, VMware.
Cloud technology experience, AWS, Azure and Google cloud are highly desirable, as is knowledge of other RDBMS such as MySQL, SQL Server, VoltDB, Progress, PostgreSQL ,Ingres DB.
The business works with and supports clients 24×7, 365 meaning there are elements of out of hours working. The team provides out of hours cover on a rota basis and it expected that the successful candidate would join the rota following an initial on boarding with the team. This is likely to be no more than once every 6-8 weeks.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Leading on Database Transition/Projects, working to Project Manager timescales and Database standards, ensuring the new service is successfully transitioned into BAU services
• Working to DBA Build/Install standards set by DBA Manager, with your input. Ensuring all DBA documentation produced is to required ISO standards
• Performing Change Management duties within defined KPI targets, concentrating on major changes
• Working on BAU issues as required, primarily Database Performance, Major Incidents or major Problem Records
• Mentor and lead other DBA’s of all levels in the team
• Service Delivery and Communication
• Technical & DBA Transition Leadership
• Database Performance or Clustering and Administration
• DBA Change management and implementation
• Problem Solver
• Documentation & Management reporting
