Senior Quantity Surveyor
Almondsbury, Bristol or Exeter
Salary: Competitive + Car / Car Allowance
The opportunity has arisen for a QS / SQS to join the team. This role can be based in Almondsbury or Exeter. The ideal candidate with have some QS experience within a civil engineer, highways company and be ready to take the step up into a SQS role. We offer training development and progression.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for:
Maximise commercial return on the contract.
Assist in the development of the Quality bids submitted by the company at tender stage
Evaluate incoming tenders
Drive value for money and efficiency savings in accordance with contract delivery
Be continually aware of the profitability of orders that form part of the contract
Review and report weekly cost & value for projects and maintenance schemes and liaison with operations
Manage Subcontract accounts from procurement to final account
Monthly forecasting of the contract
Responsible for obtaining timely payment of accounts in conjunction with Finance Controller
Making sure accurate records are maintained and supplied to client
Commercial management and reporting in conjunction with operational managers
Work in Partnership with the Client and in a collaborative manner
Management of Subcontractors from Enquiry to Final Account
Demonstration of Best Value
Assist finance in compiling of monthly applications for payments
Compiling monthly CVR reports & reviewing with Managers
Commercial assistance to operations
Drive payment process with Highways England
Quarterly Cash Flows in conjunction with Financial Controller
Site measurement procedures and processes
Attending Contract progress meetings where required with Client
Attending management meetings where required to present commercial feedback
Responsible for Purchasing Of Materials & Plant Hire
Budget monitoring and budget certainty
To actively foster a positive staff morale.
To willingly carry out any reasonable task as requested by a member of management.
To manage the commercial team on a daily basis and ensure they are fulfilling their roles.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will have:
An accredited course by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Chartered , Institute of Building (CIOB)the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES) or the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
Worked in small and medium sized contracts, Placed and written subcontract orders
Understands costing of labour, plant and materials
Experience of various forms of contract (ECC, ICE, NEC)
Understands valuations, applications for payments and variations
Able to produce forecasts
Able to place subcontract enquiries, orders and pre let meetings
Understandings of measurement, rates, build up and cost control
Proven track record of client liaison and collaboration
Adequate experience in a Senior QS role
Management of directly reporting employees & mentoring
Some estimating experience
Personnel management experience
Experience of company accounts
Experience of claims
Experience of preparing full estimates and bid reviews
Assist in developing and monitoring the estimating/pricing strategy of the business
Able to communicate to all levels
Logical and detailed in approach to work
