Bouygues UK are recruiting for an experienced Site Manager to join our production team on one of our flagship projects, a £120M new build education project in
Bath.

The project boasts two new buildings within the university campus (£60M each). One comprising of state-of-the-art research laboratories and supporting facilities, the other is an adjoining building comprised of the requisite office space, all finished to a very high specification.

For this particular role, we require a Site Manager with 5+ years experience managing internal fit-out packages, from the early stages to completion, ideally for a T1 main contractor or specialist interior fit-out subcontractor.

Job Purpose and Scope:

To be responsible for the economic safe management of a package, element or section of a project in respect of progress, workmanship, health, safety, environmental and quality standards by ensuring that adequate and proper labour, plant, materials and sub-contractor resources are available and adequately directed to meet the requirements of the contract.

Accountability and Key Tasks:

Assist the Project Manager in the delivery of the Project
Responsible for any personnel, package, element or area as instructed by the Project Manager.

Accountable for the health and safety, environmental, security and quality standards on site.

General Duties:

To be responsible for health, safety, and the environment, as legislatively required and contained within the HSE Management System and described in the Project Execution Plan. Where unsure and assistance is required liaise with the appointed Project HSE Manager.
To ensure best practise to high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality within the site operations under your control and to deliver a high value safe project for the client on behalf of the company and the team.

To actively lead by example at all times as a representative of the company ensuring that all working relationships with internal and external customers are consistent and to the highest standards.

To ensure that the company gets the best out of its sub-contractors and suppliers, by proper selection and management in conjunction with the project team.

To work with the commercial and buying teams to ensure that the correct correspondence is in place to protect the companys commercial and contractual position.

To ensure that for all activities you are responsible for, all Principal Contractor process/standards are adhered to.

To ensure that for all activities you are responsible for, all company process/standards laid down in the Business Quality Management System are adhered to.

To consult with all disciplines, i.e. Surveying, Design Management, Buying, Planning, Human Resources, Health, Safety and Environment, to provide effective management of contracts.

To fulfil your responsibilities in accordance with the project allocation of responsibilities.

To portray the companys image to the best advantage and to encourage other employees to do the same.

Ensure the Company Health and Safety safe working practices are observed at all times

Comply with Company Policies and Procedures
To follow the Companys Equalities Policies in relation to other staff, customers and members of the Group, at a level appropriate to the post

To adhere to the Companys anti-bribery and anti-corruption policies at all times.

Construction Duties:

To plan, organise, control and coordinate the package or section of the project to a satisfactory and safe completion.

To mark up the project programme on a weekly basis.
To review daily the weekly work plan and brief trade supervision (Supervisor Briefings) on action required.

To ensure that works are not started before Risk Assessments, Task Safety Plans and Method Statements are issued and agreed, issued and communicated by the sub-contractor and to then actively monitor the implementation and ensure that the works are carried as agreed.
To ensure that all activities critical to the success of the site are executed, managed and delivered to the agreed programme and standards required to achieve the aims of the project team.

To provide reports and keep site records / administration as required by Company procedures and statute.

To protect the Companys interest via appropriate recorded documentation and correspondence with the client, Design Team and sub-contractors.

To actively monitor and supervise subordinate site staffs performance to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality of workmanship and efficiency thus ensuring the competence of site staff.

To ensure that the works are carried out in accordance with good practise and in line with all relevant and A-Accepted specifications, drawings, method statements and to obtain all relevant technical / manufacturers information prior to any activity commencing.

To implement systems and procedures to ensure total client satisfaction upon completion Defect free.

Where appropriate to chair, attend and record regular site briefing meetings and site safety meetings will all personnel under your control on site to ensure effective two-way communications.

Where appropriate to work closely with members of the commercial team to produce the sub contract procurement schedule and to sign off all subcontract orders in accordance with the latest procurement procedures.

To ensure that focus is maintained on the forecast final financial position, including prelims, sub-contractor non recoverable and day works, risk and opportunity schedules.

Financial Coordination Duties:

To liaise closely with the commercial team and identify and mitigate against risk as required.

Identify solutions to problems and organise activities to deliver these and the required margin.

To manage materials and plant.
Responsible for the material scheduling and timely submissions of requisitions to the buying department.

To arrange for the hiring of all necessary plant equipment through the buying department in accordance with Company procedures.

Control and call off, proper and safe storage and distribution on site of materials to avoid waste.

To be responsible for setting up and maintaining security arrangements for the materials, plant and work in progress.

Post Completion Duties:

Record and maintain Quality verification and O&M documentation as required for the life time quality records and H&S File.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, the job holder may be required to perform other duties assigned by their line manager from time to time, outside the normal sphere of work as may be reasonably requested.

The job holder will be required to undertake such flexible and additional working hours as may be necessary, within reason, to facilitate the efficient fulfilment of the duties required by position.

Essential and Desirable Criteria:

Essential:

Interior Fit-out package delivery experience
Health, Safety and Wellbeing must be your number 1 priority.
Ability to understand and retain knowledge
Demonstrates strong attention to detail and produce accurate work.
Experience in the construction industry
Has technical knowledge and profit minded.
Must be methodical and process driven
HSE training in accordance with the BYUK training matrix in particular SMSTS, First Aid and Temporary Works coordination.

IT Literate, Document control and use of collaborative shared platforms (Viewpoint – 4P)

Generates high quality output such as management plans
Good Understanding of UK H&S construction laws and UK building regulations
Desirable:

Degree or equivalent in an Engineering or Construction discipline
Appointed Person (Lifting) training
Familiarization with ISO (Apply online only) and quality management
Experience with planning software, ASTA
Chartered member or working towards CIOB, ICE or an appropriate body relevant to the role

NEBOSH Construction certificate
To be innovative by identifying and implementing new ways to do things to achieve better ways of working.
