The Downs crash: Pedestrian taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by bus

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a serious crash by the Downs.

Avon and Somerset Police tweeted about the crash at 4.16pm to inform road closures were currently in place after the collision involving a bus and a pedestrian.

The force tweeted: “The pedestrian has been taken to hospital with what are believed to be life-threatening injuries.

“Officers remain at the scene & motorists are advised to avoid the area.”

According to traffic monitoring service Inrix, Westbury Road is blocked northbound from Clay Pit Road to Parrys Lane. There is queueing traffic in the area because of the crash.

The Love Saves The Day festival – which is expected to be attended by around 50,000 people – is taking place at the Clifton Downs this weekend.
