One Virgin Media viewer wrote: “I just saw a small note on the bottom of my TV screen early this morning that, as of August 31, CNN will no longer be available on Virgin. I depend on CNN. Is it available if we pay extra for it?”

While another posted: “Very disappointed to see CNN going. It’s the only US news channel we get. Been very informative to see the Americans view on Afghanistan”.

And one added: “With what’s going on in the world plus upcoming American mid-term elections on the horizon, why can’t they just give some options and let us keep the CNN we signed on for? I have my TV tuned to CNN more than any other channel.”

The removal of CNN from this trio of UK TV providers comes after the American news channel launched a subscription-based service in Blighty.

This service, which first became available in June, offers access to CNN’s live programming ad-free for £1.99 a month – or £19.90 a year.
